Private Coaching

You can receive private instruction from renowned coach Paul “GiantBuddha” Hoppe.

Paul’s coaching consists of three elements:


1) Session Review Video ($70): You submit 50 to 100 hands (including folds) from a single table session. Paul imports the hand histories into Holdem Manager, then reviews them in the re-player. He pauses at each decision point and briefly explains what he would do in that situation and why. When his play differs from yours, he goes into more depth, exploring what conditions would make your play OK, and why it may be a mistake. In the first 45 minutes of the video, he gets through as many hands as he can. In the final 5 minutes he discusses the strengths and weaknesses he’s found in your game, and makes suggestions on how to improve.

In the past Paul has charged $140 for this type of video. In exchange for posting the videos on DragTheBar.com, he now offers them at half price. He will change your screen name in the video to match your DragTheBar screen name, unless you prefer to be completely anonymous and listed as ‘Hero’.

2) Skype Session ($180 per 90 minute session): These live chat sessions are best for targeting specific leaks, reviewing a smaller number of hands in detail, or teaching students how to use poker software. Paul has a list of topics that he can focus on, or the two of you can just go over specific hands if that’s preferred. While Paul charges $180 for these sessions, the cost can be split among multiple students. If you find a study buddy, or put together a small study group, the cost can be divided, e.g. $90 each for 2 players, $60 each for 3 players, $45 each for 4 players, etc. If you would like to work with a partner but don’t have anyone in mind, Paul can match you up with someone at a similar limit.

3) Individual Hand Review (included): While Paul does his best to reply to every post on DragTheBar, hands posted by private students will receive priority. He can’t guarantee that he’ll respond to every single hand posted, but if there is a hand that’s important to you that he overlooks, shoot him a PM or an email with a link and he will always reply to it. Also, the DragTheBar Limit Holdem coaching roster is expanding, so there will be more hands on deck, so to speak.
